From URC Southern Synod Mission & Vision

Moat is a welcoming church that seeks engagement with the local community. Worshipping in a grand Victorian building the people of Moat love a challenge and when recently everyone showed up on Sunday morning to find the heating not working, we quickly reconvened in the adjacent hall and set up an instant café church. The change of environment, seating and warmth of the room, bought everyone together, with increased interaction during the service and in prayer. It was God at work and a great success.

Our house group have decided to explore the big Christian themes this Lent – Redemption, Grace, absence of God, resurrection and New Life all through a telling of the Easter narrative. Our contact group for those who have lost loved ones meet for coffee, chat and the odd meal out.

While most of the congregation are of more senior years, our thriving beavers, cubs and scouts, for which there are long waiting lists, continues to grow and relates well to the congregation.

Beetle Drives, Easter breakfasts and days out build the community within and roundabout.
