Our Community Connections
This page brings together the websites of organisations and groups with whom Purley United Reformed Church has strong links. Each plays an important part in the life of our church and local community, whether through partnership, shared activities, or regular use of our buildings. We are pleased to highlight their work and the connections we share.

United Reformed Church
The URC is a family of Christians who meet in local churches across England, Scotland and Wales, part of the worldwide family of Reformed Churches, a group of more than 70 million Christians.
The URC has around 42,000 members in about 1,200 congregations with more than 600 ministers. More than 48,400 people worship in our churches each week, and many more take part in the weekday activities of the churches.

Progressive Christianity Network Britain
The Progressive Christianity Network Britain (Registered Charity No. 1102164) encourages open‑minded, inclusive and thoughtful Christian exploration. PCN supports individuals and churches seeking a faith that is rooted in compassion, justice and contemporary understanding. Purley United Reformed Church values our connection with PCN and shares many of the principles that guide their work.

Christian Aid and PURC
Purley United Reformed Church works closely with Christian Aid, especially during Christian Aid Week when we come together to fundraise and raise awareness. We also support Christian Aid’s appeals across the year as part of our commitment to global justice and compassion.

Purley Food Hub
Purley Food Hub is an emergency food bank run by Purley & Kenley Churches Together. Based at Purley United Reformed Church, it provides food and essential items to local people in crisis through referrals from agencies across Croydon. The Food Hub is supported by volunteers and donations from churches, schools, businesses and the wider community.

Southern Synod – United Reformed Church
Serving URC churches across South London, Surrey, Kent and Sussex, the Southern Synod provides guidance, pastoral support, and practical resources to help congregations flourish in worship, mission, and community engagement. The Synod works alongside local churches, ministers, elders and volunteers to strengthen ministry, encourage discipleship, and support shared initiatives across the region.

Book Aid International
Supporting education and opportunity around the world by providing books to libraries, schools and communities where access to reading materials is limited. PURC raises funds for Book Aid International through our weekly Saturday book fair and our additional fair on the last Thursday of each month, helping to share the gift of reading with those who need it most.

Fairtrade Foundation
Promoting fairer trading practices and improving the lives of producers across the globe. Working for justice in global trade and ensuring better opportunities for farmers and workers. Championing ethical trade and empowering communities through fairer standards and sustainable development.

Shuttles Junior Badminton Club
‘Shuttles’ Junior Badminton Club is based at Purley United Reformed Church and has enjoyed a long and positive relationship with the church community. The club provides coaching and badminton sessions for children and young people of all abilities, offering a friendly and supportive environment in which to learn and develop new skills.
