F[/dropcap or many years PURC has run a Christmas Tithe, where it is suggested that, if you wish to take part, you put aside 10p for every £1 you spend on Christmas, to be distributed between four charities. The nominated charities vary from year to year, but usually include two local charities, one national and one internal one. This is a very practical way to express our gratitude for the birth of Jesus.
This year there are special Christmas Tithe envelops, in which you can include cash or a cheque (payable to Purley United Reformed Church). They are available from the table in the church by the exit to the Foyer and from the table by the entrance to the Hall.
Please return the envelopes to church by 8 January 2017. They can be put in the offertory bag, handed to a duty steward or given to a treasurer. If you are eligible to claim Gift Aid, please complete your details on the back of the envelope and sign it. This money will go to support the work of four charities.
Our tithe collections do make a difference to many people, both near and far, at a time when we celebrate the birth of Jesus with light and laughter, family and friends.
